AC/DC's BRIAN JOHNSON Is Looking Forward To Upcoming Tour More Than Any Other
December 16, 2014AC/DC singer Brian Johnson and guitarist Angus Young were recently interviewed on BBC Radio 2's "The Chris Evans Breakfast Show". You can now listen to the chat below. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On whether AC/DC always gives its fans what they want:
Brian: "When we do a tour, or start a new tour, we never do more than maybe two or three songs off a new album, because people always feel comfortable at gigs with stuff [they already know].
"I went to see an act a long time ago and all he did was play his new album. And nobody knew it, and it was just boring.
"People like to watch the band. They pay their money and they don't wanna hear anything except for good music, and just enjoy themselves."
On whether they look forward to their upcoming two-year world tour:
Angus: "Yeah, I do. I enjoy it. Probably, for myself, 'cause I was very young when I started. I'm just used to it. It's the life I know."
Brian: "I think more than ever, this tour I'm looking forward to it a bit more than, I think, any other. I don't know if it's 'cause of my age and just enjoying things that I maybe took for granted once, that you just know it's a special time. It's been 40 years, and just to get out there again, and see if you can do it. You've gotta prove it to yourself that you can do it."
On how Brian's voice has held up over the years:
Brian: "I've gotta stick my hand up and tell the truth here. I went up to Vancouver with the boys here [to record the new AC/DC album 'Rock Or Bust'], I hadn't sung a song [with the band] in five and a half years. And I went up there with my fingers crossed when I [entered] that singing booth, and I was just so happy that it came out good. The band was swinging, and I think we all got carried away with it. I did enjoy it, though. I really did."
